Convert Forms to PDF for Download / Print
Basically, transforming signed Tally forms into a universal PDF format and allow for saving them. This ensures the form's consistent appearance across devices and is useful for record-keeping and sharing. Great for streamlining the agreement signing process.

Hi Newt Velasquez, Thanks for submitting this request! đŸ™ŒđŸŒ There's a similar request, that should achieve this use case, here: https://tally.so/feedback/p/convert-forms-to-pdf-for-download-print Here's some additional information that would be helpful now in working around this limitation:" - You can use a solution with Portant where you can generate PDFs of your form (https://tally.so/help/how-to-generate-pdf-documents-from-tally-with-portant) and it would be printable. - There's also a similar guide (https://tally.so/help/create-a-pdf-from-form-responses) for this with Make. - There are other options for this, through the use of automation platforms, such as the ones included; here (https://tally.so/help/integrations). - If you have a developer on staff, you should be able to accomplish this using our webhooks (https://tally.so/help/webhooks), or our API (https://tally.so/help/api) as well. We thank you for your patience as we continue to improve and build upon these requests.

Hi Trevor Fancher, Thanks for submitting this request. I'll merge this with an existing feature request, and you can see a pinned comment therein; that would help you with a workaround. We appreciate your patience as we get to building this for you.

Hi Tally, I did see this when searching the help articles and this is what i'm implementing right now, but the Make.com workaround is not very userfriendly and the help articles/videos do not reflect the actual current workflow. Checkboxes for example do not actually work with the "first(...)". The image replacement in the google doc actually has to come before importing the fields, etc. Additionally Make.com has a limited number of credits so it's another layer of paywall that would be needed. My feature request was more a desire to have this capability embedded.

TallyDec 16, 2025
Trevor Fancher: Thanks for following up and sharing that additional information. I do see the constraints that could come about, as you mentioned. For other possible workarounds, here are a few ways you can go about this use case, and I'll list them as follows: 1. You can use a solution with Portant where you can generate PDFs of your form (https://tally.so/help/how-to-generate-pdf-documents-from-tally-with-portant). 2. The use of other automation platforms, such as the ones included here: https://tally.so/help/integrations 3. If you have a developer on staff, you should be able to accomplish this using our API (https://tally.so/help/api) as well. Your desire for having this capability embedded, hasn't fallen on deaf ears - we will review and consider how to approach this request as we get to it.

Tally I appreciate your team looking into it. Additional automations and hiring a developer are not in the cards. I’m a small entertainment start up that’s launching as a 1 man team initially. I’ve made the make.com workaround work, for now.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! This isn't a native feature yet, but you can generate a PDF of each submission using automation — it’s a handy workaround that might work for your use case: https://tally.so/help/create-a-pdf-from-form-responses https://tally.so/help/how-to-generate-pdf-documents-from-tally-with-portant If you need help setting it up, feel free to reach out via https://tally.so/support — happy to assist! ✌

It's really feeling like because you all provided a workaround, you don't have the intention of just making this feature available to your users. This feature request goes back to 2023 and it still hasn't been made a priority.

Sure! You can’t export a filled form directly to PDF from Tally yet, but there are two workarounds: Using Make – You can automate the generation of a PDF with form responses. Guide: https://tally.so/help/create-a-pdf-from-form-responses Using Portant – Another option that allows you to map form responses into PDF templates. Guide: https://tally.so/help/how-to-generate-pdf-documents-from-tally-with-portant That said, we’re keeping your request in mind for our roadmap — thanks for the suggestion!

Tally não consegui fazer o download através desses dois guias. Seria interessante simplificar e permitir download de um questionårio respondido com um simples BOTÃO de download.

Thank you for the suggestion! While we don’t currently offer native support for auto-filling custom PDF templates like Fillout, you can likely achieve a similar result using our native Make integration. It allows you to map form fields to a PDF and automate the process. You can learn more here: https://tally.so/help/integromat-integration

Hey Ryan! While you can’t upload a PDF directly to Tally, you can add a download link to the PDF on the Thank You page after form submission. Just insert a hyperlink or full URL so users can click and download the file. If you’d like help setting this up, feel free to reach out via https://tally.so/support — happy to help! 🙌

Hi Gints Steins, Thanks for sending over this request! Currently, there isn't a native way to save and print submissions as a PDF. But there is a current request here that you can upvote on; https://tallyforms.canny.io/feature-requests/p/convert-forms-to-pdf-for-download-print Also, check the pinned comment for a workaround you can do to accomplish that need. As for color highlights in the submission table, thanks for sending over that idea for us to consider!

Hey Baltic Talent! It's not currently possible to export submissions as a PDF directly from Tally, but you can set this up using Make — here's a guide that walks you through it: https://tally.so/help/create-a-pdf-from-form-responses Thanks a lot for the suggestion as well!

Thanks for the suggestion, Kevin! We don’t support native PDF export yet, but there’s a workaround using Make (or similar tools) to generate PDFs automatically from form responses. You can follow this guide to set it up: https://tally.so/help/create-a-pdf-from-form-responses?utm_source=chatgpt.com 🙌 We’ve also noted your suggestion for future improvements — thanks again!

Hey Mohamed! Tally doesn’t support all of this natively, but there are workarounds — for example, you can send a PDF with the form responses using an integration like Make. You’ll find a guide here: https://tally.so/help/create-a-pdf-from-form-responses You can also explore more integrations that greatly expand Tally’s capabilities: https://tally.so/help/integrations Feel free to reach out to support if you'd like help setting it up! https://tally.so/support 🙌

Back in February 2024 to request the ability to download PDF in a one-click solution or VIEW as PDF instead of the table form. I am in a beauty salon and viewing form on the ipad is a nightmare.

I would also love to save form submissions as a PDF for the respondent and as the owner of the form.

Hi Vincent XTTRACTION, here are some options for you: If you just want your respondents to receive an email with their responses: - Respondent email notification (Tally Pro): https://tally.so/help/respondent-email-notifications If you want a pdf file, that is unfortunately not possible in Tally. Other Tally users have requested this feature before, you can upvote or add a comment to the request on our feature request board. We use the community’s input to prioritize which features and improvements we will be developing next. You can find the request here: https://tally.so/feedback/p/email-notification-form-as-pdf-attachment Alternatively, have a look at these articles, which might guide you in the right direction to set this up yourself: - https://tally.so/help/create-a-pdf-from-form-responses - https://tally.so/help/share-documents-and-track-viewers - https://tally.so/help/how-to-generate-pdf-documents-from-tally-with-portant

What if this feature existed outside Tally... How much would you be willing to pay per month for it? A friend and I (who's a developer) are testing something out to find a solution, but we want to be sure that it will help other people and that they're willing to pay for it.

While this is a highly voted feature, we as a community need to know the constraints of PDF conversion and creation from Tally forms. It may be very costly but also somewhat complex, technically speaking while maintaining affordability. There may be a way to either build functionality within Tally for this or allow users to connect to a service that would allow it and pass on the cost to said users. Here's some considerations I found: 1. https://www.useanvil.com/products/document-sdk/ 2. https://www.paperplane.app/

Creating and sending automated PDFs from form responses just got easier (and free)! We're excited to share a new automated workflow guide from our friends at Synergetic, written by Certified Make Expert Richard Ahrend. This step-by-step walkthrough details how to: 🔗 Auto-populate a Google Doc with your Tally form submission data 📄 Generate a PDF from that Google Doc 📬 Email the PDF to your respondent This free, no-code solution uses Make, Google Docs, and Gmail to auto-generate and email documents like contracts, receipts, and more to respondents. Check out the full guide here: https://tally.so/help/create-a-pdf-from-form-responses

Jonathan look at all the threads with people identifying this issues needs to be resolved or they will look elsewhere. No one wants to build their own template in Docs and then connect it via make or zapier. Pleaseeeeee lock this down!

LN
Long Nguyen HuuMar 23, 2024
Exactly, currently the only workaround is to save the page as PDF from the browser (save as HTML tends to be lighter but unfortunately it doesn't work, it will send you to the website and ask you to login, so not portable). Also see this feature request for CSV and Markdown: https://tally.so/feedback/p/export-data-natively-to-spreadsheet which would be formats much easier to reimport in another service (... or the same service, later!), while PDF is better for reading a formatted page. As I noted in https://www.reddit.com/r/TallyForms/comments/1b1jknr/export_form_backup/, allowing backup and porting to other services makes the user more confident that they can keep using the service without being "trapped" later and, perhaps unintuitively, helps having them keep using the service.
