Respondents can edit their own answers after submission
After submission, it would be great to receive the confirmation email with the ability to go in and edit the responses.

Its crazy how this isnt a feature yet. We're starting to look at fillout forms instead

Yes, this is a much-needed feature! I'd like to emphasize the importance of having two distinct modes for this: 1. Controlled Editing: The ability for the form owner to allow editing on a case-by-case basis (e.g., through an API call or a manually generated link). This is critical for approval workflows or when data needs to be locked after review. 2. Uncontrolled Editing: The user always has access to an edit link, as suggested in the original post. For my use cases, the first option (controlled editing) is far more important. I suspect many others would find it more useful too.

Hi Tom — Laura here 👋 We’ve spoken via Support, and I just wanted to let you know that we’re taking your case and suggestions into account for our roadmap. Your second point is actually a popular request, so it’s definitely on our radar. Thanks again for sharing your ideas! ✌

It would be great to let customers edit some errors they notice after submit the forms. For now, they will need to submit another response to correct but it's not very efficient. The way like google forms work with edit forms, appearing just after submission, it's perfect for me

How is it that this feature does not exist yet?

Thanks for your feedback — it's currently not possible to edit a form after submission, but we’ll definitely keep your suggestion in mind.

As a workaround for now; you guys can check out the API docs for this: https://developers.tally.so/documentation/fetching-form-submissions#fetching-form-submissions ...and then: https://developers.tally.so/api-reference/endpoint/forms/patch#update-a-form

I want to give my +1 to this feature! it's so important for us.

This feature has been requested for so long that it breaks my heart a little not seeing it. My forms need this too (especially for the form's google sheets records) and for now I have been finally considering to switch back onto google forms just to have it after spending so long attempting to work around its absence just to stay here, even then I'm still trying. If Tally.so ever rolls this one out i would jump at the chance to work with their services again.

We really need this feature—ASAP. Allowing respondents to edit their submissions after filling out a form (while it remains open) is a fundamental functionality. This could be easily implemented with a unique link per response, enabling users to correct mistakes without creating duplicates. I manage surveys with over 9,000 responses, and dealing with 200-300 user errors manually is a nightmare. Cleaning up duplicated data is time-consuming and inefficient. Please consider adding this feature soon—it would make a huge difference! Thanks for your great work.

Our busniess is also looking for this feature. We are considering buying a Tally subscription as been really impressed so far, but we strongly need this edit responses feature. Please can someone at Tally update if this is a planned feature in the near future?

It's 2025, and we still don't have this feature.

It is absurd that this function does not exist today.

I absolutely agree with that. What if a customer makes a mistake during taking a form and needs to go back to edit. They should be able to do so. For some reasons ChatGPT gave me an answer that it was possible in Tally form settings under "Allow respondents to edit their responses" checkbox or toggle. I had to reach to the customer service after unsuccessfully looking for that feature. The customer service replied that it was not possible in Tally. However, we need this feature so customers will avoid retaking the form again . And I am talking about only customer's answers not the creator's questions. Thank you

Hi Natalia Parker, I'm sorry chatGPT gave you a confusing answer. Respondents can't change their answers in Tally once they submitted the form. I have a clear understanding of how you envision this feature and its intended purpose. While I can't make any promises about if or when it might be implemented, rest assured that you'll see updates here if anything changes. Thanks for your contribution!

Just had a staff member ask about this feature referencing Google Forms. This would be very helpful for forms like marketing requests, program applications, etc.

Also: A way for the owner of the form to edit submissions. Change requests are sometimes made throught email.

This is desperately needed on Tally. I didn't realize that it didn't have it before we started our subscription. We use Tally for an application form in some scenarios, and we often go back and forth with the submitter to improve the application. As it stands they have to keep submitting new applications which is annoying.

has anyone found a workaround in tally in the meantime to allow users to edit responses?

Agree on this: form token to be able to reactivate unfinished submissions It's a crucial feature for driving conversions for partial submissions and/or updating completed submissions if new form fields are added

I just started using Tally. It's great in so many ways. However I can't fathom paying $24/mo for a service that doesn't have this feature, which is offered by many free services. It's pretty critical for many use cases. I'll make due with it for now with the free version, but might find another service that has this if I decide to pay.

Agreed. NoteForms has this feature and it's preventing me from switching platforms.
